The quieter Paje: a big lagoon behind a 2 km sandbank, with space to learn. Five to eight kilometres south of Paje, a two-kilometre sandbank forms another big, shallow lagoon with a side-shore wind — and far fewer kites. Advanced riders head out to the reef waves or downwind all the way to Paje. ZanziKite, Coconuts Kite (IKO-listed) and Mawimbi Kite School teach here, with Zanzibar Kitesurfing working both beaches.
